• Ruiz heroics echo far beyond Philly

With apologies to the always-vocal regulars in Citizens Bank Park, the loudest fan after Carlos Ruiz belted his three-run homer in Game 1 of the NLCS was probably a little boy from a banana farm near Puerto Armuelles, Panama.

Several weeks ago, filmmakers shooting a documentary about Panama's baseball history called "ˇIndestructible!: Baseball on The Isthmus," approached the Phillies about Michael Ibarra, a 10-year-old boy they had met during filming. He was a big fan of Ruiz -- who is also from Panama -- and wanted to meet him.
