A period which was supposed to positively transform the fortunes of a poor and humble family from San Pedro de Macoris has instead turned sour. Sano's mother, Melania Jean, has endured endless and embarrassing scrutiny concerning a previously failed pregnancy and Major League Baseball continues to look for any bit of evidence that the family has altered Sano's age.
