Agent Jaime Torres has filed a grievance with the Major League Players Association against Cuban pitcher Noel Arguelles and infielder Jose Iglesias, who recently left Torres to sign with agents Diego Bentz and Fernando Cuza of the SFX agency. Bentz and Cuza -- two well-regarded agents who represent such stars as Miguel Tejada, Vladimir Guerrero, Alfonso Soriano and Mariano Rivera -- are also named in the grievance.
Torres -- the premier agent for Cuban players whose client list includes Jose Contreras and Alexei Ramirez -- claims Arguelles and Iglesias don't acknowledge a contract Torres says they signed with him in the Dominican Republic that pays the agent 5 percent of the players' bonus once they sign with a major league team. Torres says he has a copy of the contract.
