If you haven't heard of the Ride It Sculpture Park (aka. gather up some abandoned houses in Detroit, Mich. and build skateparks all around them), then you're missing out. With a big $250k grant, headed up by Thrasher photographer extraordinaire Joe Brook and built by Anti Hero's Tony Mirana -- it seems like Detroit is going off.
Flip Skateboards tour video titled "The Weight of the World" has been out for a few weeks now, but it's just too gnarly to pass up. Yeah, for you Internet trolls this is old news, but the video was filmed on one road trip throughout the Southwest and every spot gets ripped to shreds by the Flip team. Watch Geoff Rowley, Curren Caples, Alec Majerus, Louie Lopez, Luan Oliviera, Ben Nordberg, David Gonzalez, Matt Berger and Greyson Fletcher kill it.
If Duane Peters is the "Master of Disaster" then Grant Brittain is the "Master of Tri-X." Okay, that doesn't work. What about the "King of Kodachrome," the "President of Polaroids," the "Legendary Lensman of the Lens?" Whatever title we anoint Grant Brittian with, the fact of the matter is the Brittian is quite possibly the most important photographer that has ever photographed skateboarding- period.
Everytime I run into Terry Kennedy I laugh. He's one of those genuinely friendly skaters that just makes you want to have fun and smile. Supra recently released their Pro + Am Collection -- four signature pro shoes redesigned by four different ams. Fellow Long Beach native Kevin Romar was chosen to redesigned Kennedy's shoe and the two dropped a commercial to promote it. Enjoy.
Mike Vallely and his Elephant Brand team have posted a great video from a recent trip with the The Skateboard Mag. Along with Foster Huntington, Tyler Mumma and Jason Adams, the crew heads down to El Paso, Texas and beyond to skate ditches, The Hook and tons of skateparks.
