• En Route: Arlberg

Our original plan was to head to Russia. Nimbus Independent skiers Pep Fujas and Eric Pollard have skied in and raved about Russia in previous years, so we put it at the top of our tick list for a Nimbus webisode to shoot last winter. Unfortunately, due to my collarbone injury from Japan, along with a few political issues taking place over in Russia, the crew collectively decided to nix the trip. Plan B? The Arlberg region of Austria.

To film this episode, Fujas and Pollard set out on their journey to Austria. The plan was fairly loose aside from knowing they were meeting up with Austrian local Roman Rohrmoser and skiing the Arlberg region. Having been there a few times before, and thanks to Rohrmoser's local knowledge, the crew got right to work. Europe was just coming off a few incredible weeks of back-to-back winter storm warnings, but sadly, the minute the boys arrived, a warming trend forced them to certain elevations and aspects. More often than not filming seems to pan out that way.

Regardless, the crew stayed motivated and started ticking off the resorts with the best conditions. Within this insanely short window they were able to pull off magic. I think it's safe to say "En Route Arlberg" is one of our better webisodes yet. They documented everything from natural jumps to spines and a quick storm section all packed in from only a few days of skiing.
