The small mining town of Cooke City, Mont., sits at the northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park and is a hidden paradise for snowmobile-accessed backcountry skiing and snowboarding. These images are from three different trips to Cooke throughout last winter.

Snowmobiling down main street to the bar is the norm and in the spring you have to watch out for grizzlies and wolf packs. There are no lifts here so you work hard for every turn you make.
