Photo Art
Here's how this process works: I shoot images with my Canon S90 and my iPhone. Then I download the images, design on top of them and play with photo filters.
Most real photographers would probably laugh but I love it even if you can't call it photography. As a skier who's often on the other side of the camera, it's been great fun to get to play on both sides of the lens. I often carry my SLR in my pack but all of these images were caught quickly and in the moment when getting the backpack out wasn't an option.
That's what I love about using a point and shoot -- it's fast. The downside is that you only get one shot so you'd better nail it, but I love that challenge. I buy cameras not based on new technology, sweet sensors or fancy lenses but on the basis of fitting into my closest pocket and how resistant the camera is to a pounding, that way I still get to be a skier.
Often photography takes the photographer out of the action but this technique allows me to continue to be an athlete and either ski the line first or after the other athletes I'm with. It's a great balance and it keeps the creative juices flowing.
