Several months ago, we featured an interview with "Heroes of Dirt" director/producer Eric Bugbee in regards to a fundraising campaign aimed at the completion of the full-length BMX movie project "Heroes of Dirt." The film, an independently produced modern take on the '80s cult classic film "Rad," took over two years to complete. Amid the process, Bugbee and the crew ran out of money, just short of sound design and mixing, music licensing rights, an MPAA rating, marketing and promotions.
Their initial Kickstarter campaign fell short. It would've been really easy for Bugbee and company to throw in the towel and hope that someday, someone would come in and bankroll the whole project. But they're not giving up so easy. Starting this week, the cast and crew of "Heroes of Dirt" are putting their efforts into a new promotional campaign: Indiegogo.
According to Bugbee, "Heroes of Dirt is not a "Hollywood" studio-produced movie by any means. From the beginning, it was produced independently by a small band of filmmakers -- many of whom have a strong background in BMX. We needed to attack this process with the mindset that we'd have to be resourceful, marshaling all our strengths and network of family and friends, to make our tiny little film look like a multi-million dollar Hollywood picture."
They've accomplished that much, but now need the help of the BMX community at large to see the project through to the end. Financial supporters will receive t-shirts, hoodies, DVDs and Blue-Rays, stickers, as well as movie premiere tickets and name placement in the movie credits. To pledge support, hit up the Indiegogo website.
