Phew, take a breath everyone! What a day - just the 17 wickets to begin this series. Remarkably, India close the opening day on top. Bumrah has been magnificent, backed up by Siraj and Rana. India's 150 looking a decent total at the moment. Reminds me a little of the opening day of the 2005 Ashes at Lord's. Could batters today have done much differently? Some of the fast bowling has been outstanding. Reddy, on debut, showed what was possible when the ball got a little softer, although Australia should have had him early with a review they missed.

Jordoz: "Has the bowling really been that good or is it more a tale of two terribly out of form batting lineups that were always going to be exposed on a wicket offering a bit?" - It's a good debate, and I think a bit of the latter. Will be interesting to see if it sets the trend for the series

Deepak Samson: "As long as Carey is there, with their lower order biffers, Australia will still believe they can overhaul the score."

Colin: "Ten/eleven overs shy of a full day
who pays for that? Any mitigating circumstances, other than a lot of wickets falling?" Feels like we've had 120 overs! But, yes, well short.

Right, I'm going to wrap things up there for today. We'll have plenty of reaction to come over the next few hours from those at the ground. Not out of the question this is a two-day Test! For now, from Gnasher and Ekanth, it's goodbye and thanks for joining us.

Bumrah to Starc, no run, it's the slower one! And it so nearly works. Starc pops it back up the pitch but Bumrah can't quite get there in his follow through
