Levi, Smuts dazzle in wins for Cobras and Warriors

Warriors' batsmen propelled their side to a total of 356 for 5, setting up a convincing win against Dolphins at Buffalo Park in East London. Dolphins' decision to bowl first was foiled at the outset, with Arno Jacobs thumping nine fours in 74 off 71 balls. His stand of 155 in 25.3 overs with JJ Smuts was only a sign of things to come. Smuts and Colin Ingram then waded into the hapless attack, pounding 122 runs in under 18 overs to continue the run-glut. Smuts went on to make 132 with three sixes and 12 fours, while Ingram departed nine short of a belligerent ton. Daryn Smith led Dophins' response, but his 109 consumed 142 balls, leaving them out of contention. Wayne Parnell picked up three wickets to bowl them out for 267 in the final over.

Richard Levi smashed a rousing 83 off 59 balls to launch Cape Cobras' successful chase of 275 against Knights at Boland Park in Paarl. Batting first, Knights were propelled by Reeza Hendricks' century, assisted by a solid 94 from Dean Elgar. The pair added 173 for the third wicket to rescue Knights from 26 for 2, but Levi's withering assault laid their efforts to waste. His exit at 140 for 4 after 21 overs forced Cobras to rebuild but, with the run-rate under control, JP Duminy and Justin Ontong paced the chase to perfection. Duminy stayed unbeaten on 52 off 80 balls, while Ontong fell for 86 off 93 with victory in sight.

The win put Cobras atop the table, while Knights were in second place.
