HINWIL, Switzerland -- Briton Stephen
Taylor is to join Swiss Formula One team Sauber as chief
designer, the team said on Friday.
The Hinwil-based team said at its launch on Wednesday that
the designer of this year's C20 car Sergio Rinland had left the
team by mutual consent and Taylor would take his place
immediately.
Taylor, 37, from Leeds, joins Sauber from McLaren
international, where he has worked as a design engineer since
September 1995.
Argentine designer Rinland's latest design, the new C20 car,
was unveiled at the launch.
British designer Gary Anderson, who was replaced at Jaguar
in December, and former Prost technical director Alan Jenkins
had both been linked with the post.
Sauber will have the youngest lineup in Formula One with
German Nick Heidfeld, 23, and Finn Kimi Raikkonen, 21, as its
two drivers.
